RUBBISH/TRASH COLLECTION - COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL
The City does not franchise rubbish collection service in the Commercial/Industrial areas of the City. Firms are required to contract their trash services with private rubbish collection contractors licensed in the City of Commerce. Residential rubbish collection services are contracted by the City of Commerce with CalMet Services Company. There is no charge to residents of the City for residential trash collection service. Residential trash pickup days are normally scheduled as follows:

Regularly scheduled pickups falling on an observed "HOLIDAY" (listed above) will be re-scheduled to the following day.
Bulky Item Pick Up Service (Residential Areas Only)
Items such as couches, rugs, refrigerators, water heaters and other household items will be picked up on the regularly scheduled day for each area. Bushes, branches, lumber, etc. must be tied in bundles and all items must be placed at curb or in alley prior to the rubbish collector's 6 a.m. start time. Stumps, logs and steel pipe over four feet (4') long will not be picked up. - Residents may request this large item pick up service up to 12 times per year.
- Each resident is allowed up to 4 items (or 4 bundles) per pick up request.
- Bulky item pick ups are made on the resident's regular service day.
- All items must be placed at the resident's curb by 6 a.m. on collection day.
Items Not Eligible for Bulky Item Pick Up: - Construction material (concrete, asphalt, bricks, dirt, etc.)
- Animals (Please contact Animal Control at 323/887-4460, ext. 2236)
- Tires
- Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Boat and Trailer bodies or vehicle parts of any kind
- Hazardous waste (motor oil, oil filters, brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, turpentine, cleaning solvents with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household or vehicle batteries, and pool chemicals
