PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE/DIVISION
The City of Commerce Public Information Office is a division of the Administration Department located at City Hall (Printing Services and Public Information Officer) and the Rosewood Park Community Center (Cable TV). Public Information Officer (PIO) Brian Wolfson and a staff of seven (Media Specialist, Administrative Clerk, Graphics & Printing Services Coordinator, Reprographics Aide, Reprographics Worker, Cable TV Coordinator and Producer/Editor) offer a wide variety of services to help the City Council inform, engage, involve and respond to the residential and business communities. PIO responsibilities are divided into the following four major categories: MEDIA/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Assist media in getting timely news and information from the City of Commerce
- Publish city publications including the monthly newspaper Report to the People, city brochures, and event programs
- Develop annual city calendar
- Write speeches and prepare commendations
- Photograph city events
- Coordinate emergency/crisis communications for emergency response
- Send/Receive news items/photos
- Maintain the city's Internet Website
MARKETING/BUSINESS RELATIONS
- Coordinate city business marketing program
- Work closely with Industrial Council, individual businesses and other agencies on projects mutually beneficial to business and residents
GRAPHIC ARTS/PRINTING
- Design and print city publications, including city calendar, monthly Report to the People, employee newsletter, brochures, etc.
- Assist all departments with graphic arts and printing needs
CABLE TV
- Maintain electronic community bulletin board on Channel 55 and 56
- Videotape city events, City Council meetings and department programs
- Develop and produce original cable programming for Channel 55
- Train and involve resident video volunteers
