PARKS AND RECREATION
Mission Statement
 The City of Commerce Department of Parks & Recreation, per policy of the City Council and under the direction of Jim Jimenez Director of Parks & Recreation, offers a comprehensive recreation and parks program to the community of Commerce. The Department is comprised of two commissions, 17 operating divisions, four neighborhood parks, seven community centers and a camp in Lake Arrowhead, California.
The Department with a 2006/07 operating budget of $8,918,949, is comprised of 251 employees. Some Community Centers and facilities are restricted to residents and industrial residents of Commerce.
The Department is unique in nature, since it offers 95% recreational programs and activities at no cost to the residents of Commerce. The other 5% of the recreational programs are offered at a low cost.
