Reporting Smog
Call 1-800-CUT-SMOG

Reporting a Smoking Vehicle
When you call 1-800-CUT-SMOG to report a smoking vehicle, you will be asked to provide the following information:
  • License plate number of smoking vehicle;
  • Vehicle model or type; and
  • When (date and time) and where (city and cross streets) smoking vehicle was observed.

AQMD checks this information against Department of Motor Vehicles records to determine the name and mailing address of the vehicle's registered owner.  AQMD then sends the owner an advisory letter describing when and where the vehicle was seen smoking and recommending vehicle maintenance or repair. The letter also asks the owner to submit proof of repair of the vehicle to reduce smog.

  • Whether you have experienced this type of air quality problem in the past;
