Governor Jerry Brown signed into law AB 341 on October 6, 2011 enforcing a Statewide Commercial Recycling Program effective July 1, 2012. This State-mandated Program applies to all:
- Business generating four cubic yards or more of waste per week, and
- Multi-family residential units with at least five units.
Businesses are free to sell, exchange or donate for reuse or recycling prior to discarding and making arrangements with their refuse hauler to recycle the materials. Any recycler may provide a business with recycling services provided they obtain a business license from the City and only collect recyclable materials. There is an established licensed recyclers list that can be obtained from the City's Business License Division at (323) 722-4805, ext. 2327.
