Robert C. Fierro

Mayor Pro Tem Robert C. Fierro was elected to the City of Commerce City Council in 2005 and elected to a second term in 2009. Fierro is focused on a number of important community issues including public safety, education and housing. His top priorities are moving the city forward, strengthening the cities relationship with the industrial community, developing the Telegraph Road Corridor as an Urban Entertainment Center, infrastructure improvements and environmental justice for all.
Fierro works full-time as an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. He is President of the St. Marcellinus Holy Name Society and has worked as a Probation Officer for the Los Angeles County Probation Department assisting at-risk youth.
Prior to serving on the City Council, he was recognized by the Los Angeles Police Department for his volunteer work with the Department’s Southwest Division and awarded the “Crime Prevention Award” from California State University, Los Angeles for extensive community volunteer work.
Fierro grew up in the City of Commerce, participating in the city’s sports and recreation programs at an early age. Upon graduating from Bell Gardens High School, he worked for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and earned a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles.
Fierro and his wife Linda, also a teacher, have four children, Alexiss, Vanessa, Robert Jr., and Andrew.
Prior to being elected he served as a member of the city’s Education Commission for three years.
