Welcome to the City of Commerce Community Development Department. The goal of the Community Development Department is to promote and increase residential and commercial activity in the City of Commerce. The department is responsible for land use issues, oversees the development of new housing, and coordinates the implementation of the city's general plan. The department manages and maintains business license records, conducts field inspections, coordinates the city's environmental management services and enforces property maintenance and zoning laws. The Department of Community Development also administers the city's business attraction and retention programs and its industrial redevelopment efforts.

Planning Division
The Planning Division assists the general public by providing information regarding zoning and development. The Planning Division reviews all residential, commercial, and industrial development proposals to ensure compliance with the Commerce Municipal Code.

Environmental Services Division
The Environmental Services Division provides useful information regarding city, county, and statewide recycling and waste reduction.

Housing Division

The Housing Division administers various programs that provide monetary assistance for City of Commerce residents, including rebates and loans.

Code Enforcement Division

The Code Enforcement Program was created to ensure that all of our neighborhoods are consistent with the community standard and with Commerce Municipal Code.

Code Enforcement staff not only enforces codes, but works cooperatively with residents and businesses to meet the community standard and to create a quality environment for all who live and work within our neighborhoods.
