Mission Statement The Commerce Library's mission is to meet the informational, educational and recreational reading needs of the residents in the local neighborhoods. Library employees provide the public with orientations and assistance on the use of public access computers and the Internet. Both children and parents are encouraged to use the library for their cultural enrichment and recreational, as well as, educational purposes.
Special Resources Offered Bristow Park Library has a vast variety of materials, including books, CDs, entertainment and educational videos and DVDs, computer software, magazines, newspapers, audiotapes, and books on cassette, available in English or Spanish. Bristow Park Library has staff members who are bilingual and can help patrons in English and Spanish. The library is part of the Metropolitan Cooperative Library System (MCLS) and can facilitate the borrowing of books from any of the other participating libraries through Inter-Library Loan.
Special Services Offered The library offers special programs, such as Children's Story Times, which are held every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and Bilingual Story Times the 3rd Thursday of every month at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Class visits to the library are offered by appointment to the local elementary schools and other groups in the area. Staff provides orientations in the use of Public Access Computers and the Internet. Appointments for computer orientations can be scheduled at the library or by calling (323) 265-1787.
