Mission Statement
Commerce Library's mission is to meet the informational and recreational reading needs of residents in the immediate vicinity. Library employees provide the public with orientations and assistance on the use of public access computers and the Internet. Children and parents are encouraged to use the library for cultural enrichment and recreation as well as educational purposes.

Special Resources Offered
Atlantic Library has library materials, including books, CDs, videos, DVDs, computer software, magazines, newspapers, audiotapes, and books on cassette, available in English or Spanish. Staff members offer special programs, such as Children's Story Times, and Summer Reading Program. Orientations are provided for the use of public access computers and the Internet. Class visits to the library are offered by appointment to the local elementary schools and other groups. One hundred Spanish CD's can be enjoyed at a listening station at Atlantic Library thanks to a grant from "Musica Para Todos".

Peek-A-Book Arrives at the Atlantic Branch!

The Atlantic Branch received a new tabletop Peek-A-Book unit last week, and children are already using it. The unit is more compact than the Peek-a-Book kiosk at Central Library, but the concept is the same. Children, wearing headphones, can use the touchscreen to watch children’s book previews or educational content on the tabletop Peek-A-Book, which is about the size of a regular computer monitor. If you haven’t already, stop by and “take a peek” at Peek-A-Book – and help spread the word about Peek-A-Book at the Atlantic and Central libraries.

Special Events Offered
Orientations are provided for the use of public access computers and the Internet. Appointments for computer orientations can be scheduled by calling (323) 780-1176. Children's Story Times are held every Tuesday at 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
