Councilmember John Soria was elected to his current term on the Commerce City Council on June 6, 2017. Born and raised in the City of Commerce, he is a successful product of the programs and services provided by the City. With strong generational roots, Councilmember Soria attributes his successes to his mother, grandparents, and committed city staff.
Councilmember Soria is a graduate of St. Paul High School and Calvary Chapel Bible College La Mirada. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management at the University of La Verne in order to expand his knowledge and strengthen his leadership skills.
Councilmember Soria is the proud father of three children and has nearly 20 years of experience as a law enforcement professional with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Councilmember Soria has previously served the City as a commissioner on the Commerce Public Safety and Community Services Commission and as a member of the Measure AA Advisory Committee. Councilmember Soria is also a member of the United Family of Bristow and the Professional Peace Officers Association.
