Councilmember Leonard Mendoza was elected to his current term on the Commerce City Council on June 6, 2017. A longtime resident, Mendoza is a graduate of East Los Angeles College with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration.
Councilmember Mendoza has been active in the community for a number of years, advocating for numerous issues such as environmental justice, public safety and education. His focus continues to be on establishing programs and services that will safeguard the health and well-being of Commerce residents, especially for the City’s most vulnerable demographic: youth and seniors.
Councilmember Mendoza and wife Marlem have two children, Leilanie and Brandon. Mendoza works for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a painter.
